Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog. I’ve always wanted to have a food blog to share recipes I love with everyone. By no means, I’m a professional chef or think that I’m the best cook but I’ve cooked quite a bit and friends and family seem to love my cooking!
Coming from a family with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, I took a proactive approach when it came to my health for as long as I can remember. Filipino food is amazing. The best. I love every single dish but it’s the biggest reason why I’ve lost many loved ones in my family. One of the biggest lost was my father, who passed away at 37. I made sure that I was always active and moving. I’ve always been “skinny” and “healthy” and enjoyed food.
Last year, I’ve decided to challenge myself and cross a bucket list item and prepare to compete in my very first NPC Bikini Competition. 18 weeks of prep (competition lingo, which you will see my refer to on my posts a bit). It was such an amazing experience. Don’t get me wrong, it was VERY challenging, especially the diet. I learned so much about protein, carbs, sugar and macros. I talked to a few competitors and a lot of them just ate plain, baked or boiled protein. I couldn’t fathom eating flavorless and bland food for 18 weeks! NO WAY! So I started experimenting with different herbs and spices which lead to many awesome prep approved dishes which lead to this blog!
I had such a great experience during my first prep that I’ve decided to continue and compete again. It’s been a different experience this time around but I’m going to elaborate more on that on my personal blog.
Recipes posted on this blog are my attempt at “cleaning up” “dirty” dishes that I love that I share with my husband, Vince, family and friends. Sometimes, I make some dishes for our two very spoiled four-legged kiddos (Rocky and Maddie) and I will post those here as well! I would love to hear any feedback!
Thanks!
